It was June 28th - my Mom's birthday. We had gotten up at ridiculous o'clock and went around a park. We then headed out to see something that mysteriously does not appear on any "seven wonders of the world" list.

Mt Rushmwaitaminute

... CENTERING

Mt Rushmoh come on, get those flags out of the way

...sigh... Mt Rushmore!

We walked around the Rushmore park for quite a while, and it was pretty hot. We finally stopped for some Mt Rushcream.

We then drove all around this other nearby park for a couple of hours. There really wasn't much interesting other than:

Roads as wide as bike paths.

Buffalo

Incredibly windy roads

More buffalo

and one-lane tunnels! Glad I wasn't driving.

We went and visited some caves that were pretty close to Mt Rushmore.

They were pretty interesting and in some places surprisingly cramped for a public cave.

It was also very pleasantly cold inside

And who doesn't enjoy a good spelunk, am I right?

We headed back to the hotel, tired from having been up since shortly after sunset and in an effort to avoid eating all of Sondra's parents' fancy cheese, we headed out and found a nice, new mexican restaurant. We got the table-side guacamole, and this harried waiter, who looked like he'd been working there since the restaurant opened, made it. It was tasty, but we ordered too much other stuff.
